Protected student journey
Registration & Enrollment
Application is not enrollment. Registration occurs only after institutional review, a written decision, exact course selection, versioned terms, authoritative pricing, and any required payment and release controls.
From applicant to approved student.
The Education process keeps public exploration, application review, financial authorization, and protected course access separate. No public page, inquiry, or community membership bypasses these decisions.
A $156 first-course payment within a $2,340 all-inclusive maximum.
The planned maximum total charge for completing the MA-AC pathway is $2,340: fifteen courses at $156 each. After preliminary application review and required signatures, the first registration order contains exactly one selected course paid in full at $156. That payment is tuition for the first course, is credited toward the $2,340 total, and is not a separate application or account-creation fee. Staff then completes the separate enrollment and My Allied release review. After the first course is verified and released, each later course may be paid as $156 in full or as $78 at course start and $78 due 21 days after the scheduled course start. Payment secures the scheduled course financially; it does not open course access automatically. Authorized staff release each complete course on or after its scheduled start.
No additional required charges: There is no separate application, account-creation, enrollment, re-enrollment, or reactivation fee. Required platform access, textbooks, supplies, equipment use, laboratory materials, uniforms, external examinations, graduation, transcripts, and the certificate must not create an additional required student charge. ALDHS will not accept state or federal student financial aid for this program, and the program awards a certificate rather than a degree.
Regulatory status: ALDHS claims the low-cost nondegree exemption in Education Code section 94874(f). Bureau verification may be requested and is not approval to operate. Paid enrollment may open only after the institution records a final owner attestation that every exemption condition and all required enrollment disclosures are satisfied; the site must not describe the program as BPPE-approved or as a state-certified Medical Assistant program.
Medical Assistant status: California generally does not require an individual Medical Assistant to hold a state license or state certification. That does not remove separate rules for training providers, instructors, supervised technical-support training, employer requirements, or permitted procedures. The ALDHS completion certificate is an institutional training record, not a California license, state certification, BPPE approval, or employment guarantee.
Founding launch scope: MA-AC is the only ALDHS program open for application, registration, payment, or My Allied course release. Every other program or course name is a planning shell and must remain inaccessible until it completes the same content, governance, disclosure, payment, and security controls. ALDHS may pursue standards intended to influence the field, but no current page may promise eligibility for an outside certification examination unless the named certifying body’s requirements have been independently verified.
Self-paced study still requires weekly academic activity.
Students choose when to work within the released course material, but self-paced does not mean inactive or without standards. While actively enrolled, a student must complete documented substantive academic activity on at least five separate days each week and must meet at least the published lecture-equivalent hours for the active course. Logging in without reading, submitting, practicing, communicating with faculty, or completing another documented academic task does not count as activity.
Emergency leave protects the student's place.
A student is responsible for submitting an Emergency Leave Confirmation Request before an anticipated absence or as soon as reasonably possible when an emergency prevents advance notice. When approved, the leave holds the student's place, records the expected return date, and pauses scheduled-progress and weekly-activity calculations so approved leave time does not accumulate as negative progress. Completed work remains on the academic record. An unapproved absence continues to count under the activity, withdrawal, and refund rules stated in the student's controlling agreement.
Thirty consecutive calendar days without documented substantive academic activity and without an approved leave changes the record to inactive. Course access is paused. To return, the student must submit a new enrollment or re-enrollment request and receive approval before access is restored. No separate re-enrollment or reactivation fee is charged.
A written paced-study request permits a limited adjustment.
A student who needs slower pacing may submit a Paced Study Request for approval. Under the standard paced-study option, the weekly lecture-equivalent activity target is reduced by 15 percent; the five-day participation expectation remains unless the approved plan says otherwise. The plan must state its start date, review date, adjusted targets, and return-to-standard criteria. A request for disability, pregnancy, medical, military, religious, or other legally protected accommodation is handled through the separate accommodation process and is not limited by the 15 percent paced-study ceiling.
If a student cannot meet the approved paced-study requirements after documented support, and no approved leave or accommodation applies, ALDHS will conduct an academic-continuation review with the student. Possible outcomes include a revised support plan, approved leave, voluntary withdrawal, or later re-entry; no decision is based on a student's protected status.
What does not grant academic access.
Alliance membership, an inquiry, an applicant account, a submitted application, unsigned forms, URL manipulation, or an unverified payment does not create enrollment, reserve a seat, expose draft content, or unlock My Allied.
